Colorado School of Mines–Beck Venture Center

ABOUT

The Beck Venture Center, spanning just over 31,000 SF, serves as a dynamic hub on the Colorado School of Mines campus where entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, companies, and students converge to foster innovation.

From a pitch deck and bustling coffee shop to co-working stations and collaboration spaces, this building offers the community and support that students, faculty and alumni need to transform their ideas into market-ready products and services. The Beck Venture Center has a mix of private and open office spaces and formal and flexible collaborative spaces to allow users a variety of work and collaboration opportunities.

The building includes a multipurpose area that can accommodate presentations or lectures for up to 100 people and can be reconfigured to support multiple collaborative groups. This flexible space features a large glass wall that can be raised for larger groups and connect to the main building circulation space. The café and open atrium are a destination in the Beck Venture Center designed to capture students and visitors outside the program as well as building users.

As a part of the Colorado School of Mines campus innovation and entrepreneurship culture, the Beck Venture Center embodies innovative, sustainable solutions and received LEED Gold certification in 2024. A geoexchange system is included in the project that, when coupled with its high performing envelope, will reduce the buildings energy appetite to 50% less than the baseline. As an all-electric building, with infrastructure to support the installation of photovoltaics, it is net zero ready.
