ABOUT
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure contracted with GH Phipps to construct a new building to house the City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation Department headquarters on Smith Road. Completed in August 2024, the approximately 5,000 SF ground-up construction cost $4.4 million and includes five office spaces, four restrooms, locker room, training and break room area, and conference room.
The all-electric Parks and Recreation office headquarters is the first Net Zero building owned by the City and County of Denver. Net Zero was achieved by the east-west orientation of the building, a tight and well-insulated building envelope that includes additional insulation in the exterior wall assembly, high-performance windows, geothermal heating and cooling system, and a PV system on the roof.
