LEED Gold (for retail)
The Auraria Higher Education Center’s new 5th Street Parking Garage contains more than 300,000 square feet, 922 stalls on four levels, and more than 12,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level.
The $17 million cast-in-place structure is located north of the Auraria Higher Education Center’s administration building and is helping activate that part of the campus as noted in the 2012 AHEC master plan. There are three (3) separate storm water detention structures (1 underground, 1 in the garage, 1 north of the garage). Architectural finishes include face brick, radius louver, metal panels, curtain wall, and barrier strand rail at interior.
The garage is intended to serve the needs of the campus, since surface lots have been replaced by new construction throughout the campus. The garage’s location near sports facilities and a light rail stop also make it important to the city.
