Kurt Klanderud – President
Like many of the top executives at GH Phipps, Kurt began his Phipps career inauspiciously. Hired as an estimator 27 years ago, he began working his way steadily up the ranks. Today, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors as well as overseeing preconstruction, business development, and strategic planning. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Associated General Contractors, and a member of the Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Corporate Leadership Council. Kurt says attention to detail and paying keen attention to client needs are the keys to GH Phipps success.
Chris Bantner – Chief Operating Officer
When Chris joined GH Phipps as Chief Operating Officer, he brought with him more than 26 years of construction leadership development and executive-level experience. Chris is a key member of Phipps’ executive team. He is responsible for overseeing all operations at GH Phipps, including all areas of mainline construction operations, special projects, concrete, and the company’s construction equipment resources.
He grew up in Nebraska — and in the construction business. His family owned a flatwork concrete company, and Bantner worked there as a concrete finisher throughout high school and college. He soon joined an international construction company, rising through the project management side to eventually serve as Senior Vice President while managing major projects in education, commercial, and civic sectors.
Rich Allison – Executive Vice President
Rich Allison joined GH Phipps with 36 years of construction education and executive-level experience, and long-standing connections in the Denver market. As Executive Vice President, participates in setting and executing strategy for the company. He also oversees business development, marketing and preconstruction, with a proven track record of taking work procurement to the next level. Rich is a member of the GH Phipps Board of Directors and serves on the board of the Community College of Aurora Foundation, one of several organizations he has been active in over the years.
Rhonda Kay – Chief Financial Officer
Rhonda Kay has been the Chief Financial Officer for GH Phipps since 2003. She holds a CPA license and has over 26 years of financial management experience. In 2008, she was named CFO of the Year for medium private companies by the Denver Business Journal. She is a member of the Leadership Denver Class of 2006.
She is an active volunteer at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Currently, she serves as a community member on two Hospital Board Committees, Finance and Quality/Safety. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Volunteers for 9 years, where she served as Chair of the Board for four years. She represented the Volunteer Association on the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation Board of Trustees for 6 years and on the Children’s Hospital Colorado Board of Directors for 4 years.
Rhonda also served for six years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross and as the chair of their Audit Committee during that time
Gary Constant – Vice President, Business Development
Gary joined GH Phipps in January 1988 as an Estimator. In his 29 years at Phipps he has handled some of our most challenging and significant projects, many of them constructed through design-build and fast-tracked delivery. Gary has held the positions of Preconstruction Manager, Director of Preconstruction, Project Manager, Director of Business Development, Owner Contracts Administrator, Project Executive, and Trustee.
His project experience spans all forms of K-12 and higher education, institutional, healthcare including the new Children’s Hospital Colorado, high tech, telecom, wafer fab, clean rooms, laboratories, corporate office and research, manufacturing, federal and state buildings, and religious facilities.
Chris Pedersen – Vice President, Project Director
Chris joined GH Phipps in 1988 as an Assistant Project Manager on the Children’s Hospital Child Health Center project. With the exception of a five-year stint in preconstruction, most of his career has been spent in operations serving in numerous capacities, including Senior Project Manager and Operations Manager. Throughout the years, Chris has developed a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from K-12 and Higher Ed, to Technology, Healthcare and Religious facilities.
As a Vice President, Chris serves on the executive management team, and has oversight of GH Phipps’ Concrete Services and our Sustainability and LEAN initiatives.
Roger Treichler, Jr. – Vice President of Operations – Denver
Roger Treichler began working with GH Phipps in 1996, and since then has served in many capacities. He has worked in the Preconstruction Department and the Operations Department on both small and large projects. For the past nine years, Roger served as the Director of Special Projects.
During his time leading special projects, Roger worked to expand its reach. GH Phipps has supported the program since its founding, but it has become a major resource for long-time clients, as well as a division that seeks out new clients and demonstrates GH Phipps’ work ethic and innovative approaches.
Todd Ruff – Vice President of Preconstruction
Todd Ruff came to the profession via a traditional route: His father worked in construction, and Todd often spent time on job sites. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, he joined GH Phipps Construction Companies’ Preconstruction Team. After five years as Director of Preconstruction Services, he became Vice President of Preconstruction.
As Vice President of Preconstruction, Todd provides leadership overseeing multiple projects in multiple offices to ensure that every owner’s expectations are met and that consistent value is delivered to GH Phipps’ clients. He understands a client’s responsibilities: He owned and operated his own landscape maintenance business from middle school through college, a job that allowed him to pay for his education.
