In the early 1960s, largely to meet the growing complexities of construction, GH Phipps pioneered the development of the Construction Management / General Contractor (CM/CG) concept in Colorado. This involved incorporating preconstruction phase services that included conceptual estimates, expedited bid packaging to shave months off of projects, fast-track schedules, and early Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) estimates.
We use methods and tools for estimating and budgeting that are designed to add value, save our clients money, and demonstrate constructability. Our step-by-step, open-book approach is based on the concept that the complex and extensive work performed in the preconstruction phase pays off in savings during the course of construction and close-out. We can customize resources for each client.
We can perform value-added Lean construction methods during design, utilize our in-house mechanical / electrical estimating, or negotiate critical subcontractor resources, if needed.
We know that being strategic is not just good business, it’s honorable business. We work to use only the best subcontractors, and have developed the reputation for treating them with integrity and fairness, through prequalification and the use of highly detailed bidding and procurement processes. This saves money, while increasing quality – a double-plus for our clients, our design partners, and our teams.
This accelerated level of performance reflects accountability and the sense of personal ownership that guides GH Phipps.
