This 4-story, 87,000-square-foot facility, formerly known as the Student Learning and Engagement Building, is the hub for services for students of the Community College of Denver. In order to meet an aggressive project schedule, GH Phipps used extensive systems modeling and coordination. Advance detailing of reinforcing steel and structural steel and the resulting planning and coordination contributed to finishing the structural work ahead of schedule without shop drawings. Further modeling and coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems allowed for more off-site fabrication of systems, and contributed to faster, safer and higher-quality field installation. This project also utilized a site logistics model to communicate how GH Phipps would minimize our impact on overall campus operations and safety, and a virtual enclosure mock-up to understand the constructability of enclosure detailing.
